How does an NFC review card work?
An NFC review card opens your Google review page the moment a customer taps their phone against it. The card holds a small chip programmed with your review link, the phone reads it wirelessly from a few centimeters away, and your review page opens in the browser. Customers use the phone's built-in NFC reader or camera rather than a separate tap-or-scan app. An internet connection is required, and Google may ask the reviewer to sign in.
What is an NFC review card?
An NFC review card is a plastic card or countertop stand with an NFC chip inside, programmed with the link to your Google review page.
NFC stands for Near Field Communication, the same short range wireless technology behind tap to pay. The chip has no battery, no moving parts, and does not need charging.
How the tap works, step by step
- The customer taps their phone on the card or stand.
- The phone reads the chip and opens your review page directly.
- The customer can choose to share feedback on the Google review page.
The chip has no battery and never needs charging. It draws the tiny amount of power it needs from the phone during the tap itself.
How the card gets your review link
Programming is optional. On supported product pages, you can select your Google Business before adding the product to your cart. Contact support before ordering with questions about programming charges.
On our product pages you can search for your business by name and we wire the exact Google review link for you so the card points at the right place on the first tap.
Which phones work with NFC?
Apple supports background NFC tag reading on iPhone XS and newer; Android support varies by manufacturer, model, and settings. Apple describes supported models in its iPhone guide.
Older phones may not read NFC at all, which is why every card and stand also carries a printed QR code as a backup.
What if a phone does not support NFC?
A customer with an older phone scans the printed QR code instead of tapping. Same review page, same one-step flow, just triggered by the camera instead of the chip.
The ready card and stand include both options so customers can use the method available on their phone.
Are there downsides to NFC cards?
The chip must be tapped at close range, within a few centimeters, so the card needs to sit somewhere customers actually reach. A card stuck on a back wall does not get used.
Some Android phones need NFC switched on in settings before they will read a tag. A thick or metal phone case can also interfere. The QR code remains available when a phone cannot read the tag.
How much does a Google review card cost?
Current store prices: Loading current prices and availability.
- On supported product pages, Google Business review-link programming can be requested before adding the item to the cart.
- Customers use a compatible phone's built-in NFC reader or camera; no separate tap-or-scan app is needed.
- An internet connection is required, and Google may require the reviewer to sign in to a Google account before posting.
- Google Business review-link programming is included. Pick your business before adding to cart and it ships ready to tap.
Bundle pricing takes 15% off 2 units, 25% off 3 or more, and 50% off 12 or more. The discount is applied automatically at checkout, and cards and stands can be mixed in the same order.
Custom branding is a separate premium option. See ready-to-ship stands and cards or design a custom branded card.
Where should you put it?
Checkout counters, reception desks, salon front desks, restaurant tables, and anywhere else a customer finishes their visit.
For service businesses, handing the card over at the end of an appointment gives the customer a clear choice while you are still face to face.
Suggested handoffs for service calls
These are practical workflow examples, not customer case studies or promises about review results. Adapt the timing to the customer and never make feedback a condition of service.
- HVAC: after explaining the completed work and answering final questions, offer the portable card before packing up.
- Plumbing: after the customer has inspected the repair and received care instructions, hold out the card without tying the request to payment.
- Mobile detailing: after the walkaround, keep the card in a pocket or invoice folder so the customer can tap or scan without a trip back to the vehicle.
A neutral script is: “If you would like to share feedback about today’s service, tap or scan here to open our Google review page.” If the customer is busy or declines, move on without pressure.
The portable NFC Google Review Card is the direct product option for these in-person handoffs.
Do Google reviews help local ranking?
Google's own Business Profile documentation lists review count and review score among the factors that influence local ranking, alongside relevance, distance, and prominence. You can read Google's guidance directly at support.google.com/business/answer/7091.
Google also explains how Business Profile owners can create and share a review-request link in its official review-link guidance.
We do not claim any specific multiplier or a guaranteed ranking improvement. What we sell is a faster path to the review page, not a promise about where you land in the map pack.
Can you ask customers for five star reviews?
Ask for honest feedback without incentives or selective solicitation. Review Google's Maps user-contributed content policy before creating a review-request process.
These cards send every customer to the same review page, with no filtering and no screening step. That is what keeps the approach compliant with Google's rules.
We do not promise five star reviews. What the card does is shorten the path for a customer who already wants to leave one.
